Did you know that using sweet potatoes on your face can help prevent wrinkles and dryness?
And that some yoghurt can fade dark spots?
For the past few months, I've been making a face mask with a base of sweet potato, yoghurt, honey, and oat flour.
In the fall and winter, my skin is easily dehydrated and I need something to moisturize my dry skin, unclog my pores, and brighten my complexion for a nice winter glow.
This mask has become a staple in my house and it takes less than 5 minutes to make. If you try it, I promise you'll use it more than once! Here's a simplified version and all of the ingredients can be found at your local grocery store. I promise that it's like having a spa quality facial at home…for less than $8.
Sweet Potato Face Mask
Ingredients
-
1 tsp cooked sweet potato
-
1 tsp Greek yogurt with live active cultures (including L. Bulgaricus)
-
1 tsp honey
-
1/2 tsp oat flour
-
1/2 tsp rhassoul clay
-
1-2 tsp water (to preferred consistency)
Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl and apply to your freshly washed face, preferably still slightly damp face. *(try to apply the mask within one minute of washing your face so that your pores are still slightly open).
This makes enough for 2 masks. Unused portions can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days. If you’re only making one mask, cut the mixture in half.
Note- if you will be saving some for later, use a spoon to remove the amount that you will apply to your face instead of digging into the mixture your fingers.
This mask is so amazing and I'll probably rename it later. If you try it and have some ideas on a cool name, please comment below!
